Spring Clean Your Sex Life

As the temperature starts to climb this time of year, so does our libido. What better time to spring clean your sex life?

In the bedroom, open the windows, rip off the sheets, and make some sexy changes to your sanctuary surroundings. Create a sex nook in the corner of the room and fill the space with luxurious throws, erotic literature, and titillating toys. A couple can come closer when shopping for frisky amusements like magic wands, neck massagers, and various stimulators in various sizes, shapes, and frequencies.

“Novelty is not essential, but every now and then it gives us a new zest,” says sex therapist and hypnotherapist Dr Janet Hall, who also recommends investing annually in new personal lubricant. “Lubes can go stale and that’s not healthy, especially for women’s more sensitive parts,” she told houseofwellness.com.

Water-based lubricants can also improve sex, replenish the skin, and it doesn’t leave stains on sheets.

You can also refresh your bedroom with romantic items like black silky satin sheets and soft swaying curtains. Candles are always ideal to cast softer lighting and throw flowing shadows across your body.

Blooming plants and flowers can also help your sensuality take root. “It’s been proven that plants can do everything from reduce stress and improve your mood to absorb toxins and even reduce noise levels (if you know what I mean),” Shellie R. Warren, PCC told xonecole.com. “So, why not put a snake plant or pothos on your nightstands or place an English ivy or Gardenia in a corner of the room? It can bring peace to your boudoir and make it feel so warm and comfy that you’ll want to cuddle up with your partner—and then some.”

“Dusters aren’t just for spring cleaning,” JoDivine.com’s Megan Barnett asserts. “Tease your partner with flirtatious feathers, such as the Sex & Mischief Feather Tickler. Fluttering the feathered tip across your partner’s sensitive skin will drive them wild, sending new pleasure sensations right to their core.”

Spring is also a time to find a signature “sex scent.” Search for new perfumes or essential oils with notes of tangerine, jasmine, lavender, or rose. Spray or dab them across your chest, stomach and pelvis and let your partner follow their nose.

Last, create a sex shelf in your refrigerator and stock it with proven aphrodisiacs such as fat figs, pomegranates, oysters, spicy chili peppers, and chilled strawberries. Cool whipped cream, sweet honey and iced chocolate frosting are the perfect condiments to cool hot bodies on a warm spring night.
